The day has arrived! I apologize for not putting up these blogs as the night went on, but the .mac server was down while migrating to the “Mobile Me” service. As it stands right now, they are still not publishing well so keep checking back. Anyway, on to the good news. I was in the first group into the store. It was an awesome experience! I’ll give you the short story on how the night went. The store employees came out several times to give us water. The Red Bull girls handed out free Red Bull (I had 3)! The Starbucks gals came out and gave us free coffee. After all of this, we finally hit the pit at about 0100. We had all talked about which one we were getting etc. Anyway, we were all up by 0500 and looking online for the 2.0 software. I was interviewed by the local news station and if I can download the video, I will post it. Finally the employees start clapping and welcoming us in. Apple was ready and made us all feel at home. Unfortunately, the servers were overloaded and the activation took quite some time. I’m glad that I was the first group in, as it seemed to take about an hour inside the store. The place was full of energy and everyone was having a great time. By the time the store opened, the line was all the way around the block. There must have been 5 to 6 hundred people. Again, I’m glad that I was there early. Anyway, I finally got the phone. This was the moment I waited a month for since the announcement. This was the moment that I received my Father’s Day present. As I touched it for the first time, I waited for the buyer’s remorse to set in........it never did. This phone is awesome!!!

As you can see from the photos, it really looks stunning. I really thought that I would like the original aluminum iPhone better, but I have to say I like this white one much more. It even came with this cool white box. As for the performance of the phone, I will have to comment on that later. I haven’t had too much time to play with it yet. I will say that the 2.0 software is fantastic. I played with it on my first gen iPhone, and it was great. There are tons of really useful free applications, and of course they not only have Pacman but they also have Super Monkey Ball. While I was frustrated by the time it took to activate my phone, as I type this I am still trying to finalize it at home, I really can’t blame Apple. Their servers are trying to update to 2.0 all of the First Gen iPhones as well as trying to activate the 3G iPhone. I don’t think that they had any idea what the demand was going to be. Perhaps they should have let the update out yesterday, so that the servers would only have to activate new phones today. Along the same lines, I don’t think that AT&T had any idea either. I will get some more photos later and give you guys some more updates. Let me know what you think and leave some comments below!
